Some of you were asking about this wireless speaker setup. I have been using the wm-sys4 system for the last couple of years and have been very happy with it. There seems to be no quality of signal loss. It looks like they have updated this system with a wider frequency range. The price is also about half of what I gave for mine. If you have any questions just let me know. More information can be found at www.phonic.com Here is the link to the FCC page on the 700Mhz band and why I can’t use this system any more www.fcc.gov

Works right out of the box. Hooked it up to my cable box inside the house, applied power, extended antenna. Installed batteries (8 C cells.)Pressed the on button. It does thump twice. Once on turn on then again when base comes on. It lights up blue so you can find it in the dark. Large volume knob on top. Water repellent. There are no treble or base controls. However it has very good balanced natural sound. The sound is great AND LOUD! No distortion, or static. I walked it 80ft to the far end of my property and still worked fine. The inside unit is light weight. The outside unit with batteries is a good weight and won’t blow away in the wind. I use it on my swim spa. It gets splashed but still keeps working. I have run it for 2 hours on batteries and it never distorted. Don’t know how long the batteries last. It doe come with a 12v supply for the outside and inside units. Or both will operate on batteries.

Ok….so first off understand that this is not a pair of speakers…it is one speaker along with a single transmitter. The two together make up the pair as it’s listed.

That said a pair really isn’t necessary as the volume and sound of the one is more than adequate. Now if you are one of those people who are looking for premium sound at a bargin price then you are looking in the wrong place. If you are looking for decent sound at a decent price then this will work just fine for you.

The set up is way easy and operating the system is even easier. I have mine on my deck which is 10 x 15 and I can easily hear it no matter where I sit, in fact I can hear it clearly any where in my yard (which isn’t exactly small) to the furtherest point and that’s having the volume only half way up with my AC unit running.

I am powering it using the AC adapter so I can’t say how well it performs on batteries but I can imagine it performs just as well.

So lastly, if you are looking for a wireless speaker for entertaining a deck/patio party you will enjoy this…if you are looking to entertain/impress the entire neighborhood like those people who ride around in those rolling entertainment centers they call cars then look elsewhere.

Oh and make sure you don’t have your volume up too high on your music source as the sound will be crappy. Turn the source volume down and use the volume control on the speaker itself.

Mediocre is probably the best word to describe everything about this item, but on the plus side it is a lot cheaper than it’s competitors.

When plugged directly into a sound source the speaker quality is pretty average. When you use it with the wireless FM transmitter the sound quality gets worse. With a little tweaking of the volume and equalization from the transmitting source you can improve the sound quality some but it will never be as clear as if it were directly plugged in. Don’t expect to be able to crank it loud, the bass makes it sound awful.

If you want a quiet little speaker for out on the deck and don’t plan on moving it much, this will probably work. If you want to be able to use it for loud parties or frequently move it and use multiple audio sources, then I would plan on spending more money for something of better quality.

You can’t get louder than that shirt! Cool pic

bigshowmobile November 17, 2011 at 1:06 pm

@crankupthevolume1517 yep, they took that band away from us. I will put a link in the description to the FCC page about the 700Mhz band.

crankupthevolume1517 November 17, 2011 at 1:24 pm

@bigshowmobile Is it true that this one is now illegal because of the frequencies that it uses are now used for government work because that’s what some guy on amazon said in his review?

bigshowmobile November 17, 2011 at 2:21 pm

@crankupthevolume1517 I’ve been trying out a few new systems, but I think I have a winner picked out. Will post a video some time next week with any luck.

crankupthevolume1517 November 17, 2011 at 2:33 pm

@bigshowmobile I didn’t see any new system in your videos? what is it and if possible can you do a video on it if you ended up getting it?

Thanks,
Teddy K.

The Phonic system has been retired. I have a new system that I will be doing a vid on soon. If you are interested please subscribe so you get notice when the new vid is up. Thanks for watching.

eldjboricua November 17, 2011 at 4:08 pm

OK
i seen it for about $379.00

bigshowmobile November 17, 2011 at 4:48 pm

@eldjboricua a lot more than I care to admit, but that ways years ago when they first came out. A quick google search for “Phonic wm-sys4″ shows prices between 275 and 350. Lets just say that’s a lot less than I paid 4 years ago.

eldjboricua November 17, 2011 at 5:12 pm

@bigshowmobile
how much did it set you back?
thank ou in advance

bigshowmobile November 17, 2011 at 5:38 pm

@eldjboricua I had my local Guitar Center order it in for me.

eldjboricua November 17, 2011 at 6:01 pm

please , tell me where you purchase this wireless system

phaseaudio November 17, 2011 at 6:17 pm

I can’t find a supplier of these in the UK. Do you have a link to a supplier who will post to the UK.
They look ideal for me.
Do they loose any low or high end frequencies when you use them.

Great video.

bigshowmobile November 17, 2011 at 6:39 pm

you have to have power for the powered speakers so it’s just a matter of using a tap or a powerstip to plug in the reciever. Hope that helps.

bigboydjs November 17, 2011 at 7:22 pm

so for power you still need to run an extension cord? or how does the skear get power through the transmitter? let me know thanks

djbigron November 17, 2011 at 7:39 pm

that is to cool thanks i am going to look into that.

bigshowmobile November 17, 2011 at 8:27 pm

No I haven’t, it has been trouble free. And the new one looks like it covers a much wider frequency range, so it should have even greater flexability.

jasperibe November 17, 2011 at 8:59 pm

Thank You, didn’t expect it to be so compact. Have you had any problems with crossed frequencies with your wireless or a wireless system being used by another dj in the same banquet facility?
